From platypus to star-nosed mole, wildlife never looked so wild: We've put together a gallery of what we think are the world's 10 oddest-looking species. But msnbc.com would like to hear what Newsviners have to say. Are there other oddballs out there that we've missed? What would you rate as the world's strangest species?

Great slideshow with delightfully interesting creatures!
Would be nice to SEE the plate-size eye of the squid and the fingers of the aye-aye. I felt somewhat teased...
Thanks,
Joe

Terrific slideshow! All of the animals are fascinating; wouldn't you love to see them firsthand?
It's a real shame that a wealthy hunter felt the need to kill the bear. It's not as if there is an abundance of bears on the planet. He just wants to hang its head on his wall and brag about it. What a terrible thing to do to an incredible animal!

I liked everything you had to show on the article. That funky toad is especially interesting to me.

      Two other curiosities:
      • I always thought wildebeests (gnus) looked ridiculous as well. It seems like someone just took a bunch of herd animals and stewed them together. Their heads look disproportionate to the rest of their bodies.
      • I've heard they are interbreeding domesticated cats to try to get a cat that looks exactly like a tiger. These "toygers" will go on sale sometime fairly soon (for a handsome price, more than likely). I think they are working on rounding the ears a bit more right now. This makes Gregor Mendel's pea plant experiments look like a high school science project.

Great Article. An animal that came to mind that I saw in Tanzania (Africa) is quite an odd ball. Its called a Genet. It looks like a raccoon, cat, lemur, and a weasel.
