The top 10 new species

The top 10 new species for the past year include a rhino beetle that looks like a cartoon character, a killer jellyfish and the cutest little fruit bat you ever did see. At least that's the lineup listed by the International Institute for Species Exploration. What do you think? MSNBC.com wants to know if Newsviners have any favorite additions to the list. Are there some among the top 10 that are absolute clinkers? How do you define a top species anyway? Rarity? Cuteness? Out-of-the-ordinary capabilities? Please feel free to weigh in.

If your looking for cute, go no further than the Obama Osama Fruit Bat. It will bring change to people every where and even Lefties will be cute, but sadly no smarter. But cute change is enough for any card carrying Liberal walking the planet.

goodness--what are you talking about and what kind of species are you.? go yammer on a political site if you find yourself so astute; your comments are not relevant to this article--and merely appear to be an opportunity for you to make negative statements about others that do not believe as you do.

grow up, this is america--and we are trying to refine it... guess we could do without you.

For me it should be rarity and surprising characteristics/capabilities. Somehow it makes me wonder how it is possible that a complete new type of species is found. A new branch in an already known family is somehow less interesting to a layman, probably.

I think the depths of the oceans might have some wonderful surprises for us in this.
